Claim: 🚨 I CONDEMN IN THE STRONGEST TERMS PAKISTAN’S AIRSTRIKES INSIDE AFGHANISTAN. Islamabad claims its fighter jets killed 28 “terrorists.” Kabul says three civilians were killed and four wounded, including casualties from a family whose home was struck in Kunar. Neither side’s casualty claims have yet been independently verified. Pakistan’s military establishment cannot simply label people “terrorists” and expect that label to erase the obligation to protect civilians. Pakistan has every right to defend its citizens from terrorism. But cross-border bombing must not become a substitute for intelligence, accountability, diplomacy and an effective security policy at home. Afghan civilians are not expendable collateral for Pakistan’s internal security failures. And there is an alarming precedent: UNAMA reported that Pakistani strikes in eastern Afghanistan in June killed at least 28 civilians and wounded 49, including women and children. Enough. Afghan civilian lives matter. Pashtun lives matter. Pakistani lives matter.
