Claim: 🚨 EXCLUSIVE — WHAT MY SOURCES IN GHQ ARE TELLING ME ABOUT PAKISTAN’S DEEPENING POLITICAL CRISIS I have spoken to senior sources within GHQ. What follows is source-based reporting and assessment: According to these sources, the confrontation between Field Marshal Asim Munir and Imran Khan is entering a critical phase. 1 — IMRAN KHAN: NO DEAL, NO COMPROMISE My sources say efforts to obtain a political compromise from Imran Khan have failed. Their message is straightforward: No NRO. No deal. No compromise from IK. According to them, this refusal is one of the principal factors driving the current political confrontation. 2 — DG ISI ASIM MALIK GIVEN THE TASK My GHQ sources claim that DG ISI Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik has been given responsibility for implementing the establishment’s current political-security approach. They further claim that instructions are increasingly being communicated through the ISI chain to sector commanders and relevant law-enforcement elements, rather than through normal provincial political channels. I have been specifically told: “Only orders from ISI. CMs are not involved” My sources allege that provincial chief ministers — including the Punjab government of CM Maryam Nawaz — have little meaningful influence over these security decisions. 3 — CRACKDOWN IN PUNJAB & KP The information reaching me describes preparations for an intensified crackdown against PTI mobilisation and political dissent, particularly in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Some coercive measures against PTI figures are already public: an Anti-Terrorism Court recently ordered passports blocked for two dozen PTI lawmakers, including KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Asad Qaiser. 4 — THE PROVINCES/ADMINISTRATIVE-UNITS PLAN IS RUNNING INTO POLITICAL RESISTANCE My sources describe serious resistance to proposals for restructuring Pakistan into additional provinces/administrative units. Public reporting confirms that this issue has produced disagreements among the governing parties. The PPP has insisted on constitutional procedure and provincial consent, while PML-N's Rana Sanaullah says Parliament must decide the issue and that his party did not initiate the plan. MQM-P, by contrast, has openly supported new provinces. Mohsin Naqvi has publicly advocated creating new administrative units, while saying such restructuring should occur constitutionally and with political consensus. 5 — PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM The much more explosive information from my sources concerns an alleged longer-term political project. They claim Asim Munir has ambitions involving a presidential system and a restructuring of Pakistan into smaller administrative units, with himself ultimately occupying the presidency. I stress: I have not independently verified this claim, and I have found no public evidence establishing that such a plan has been formally adopted. My sources nevertheless argue that the political resistance to such restructuring is now substantial. 6 — INTERNAL MILITARY SENTIMENT My sources also make an extraordinary claim about sentiment inside the Armed Forces. They describe considerable dissatisfaction with Asim Munir among sections of the Army, Pakistan Air Force and Navy, while saying his strongest institutional support comes from officers and officials who have benefited from the present arrangement. Again, there is no reliable public polling of serving Pakistani military personnel that would allow me to quantify or independently substantiate this assertion. 7 — FOREIGN POLICY The same senior sources contend that GHQ's assessment of Pakistan's external position is becoming increasingly uncomfortable. They believe relationships involving China, Iran and Saudi Arabia have become more difficult while Islamabad/Rawalpindi has invested heavily in cultivating the Trump administration. The top sources in GHQ beleive that Pakistan is facing international isolation. 8 — THE BIGGER PICTURE The picture my sources paint is therefore this: Imran Khan refuses a compromise. The political parties disagree over restructuring the federation. The new-provinces debate has become politically contentious. ISI is allegedly being given a larger operational role in controlling the domestic political situation. And, according to my sources, frustration exists within sections of the military itself. At the same time Pakistan faces an extremely serious terrorism challenge, with repeated security-force casualties in KP and Balochistan. This is potentially a dangerous combination. Pakistan's political disputes ultimately require a constitutional and political settlement. The publicly documented debate over new provinces itself demonstrates why: even proponents acknowledge that fundamental changes to the federation require Parliament, constitutional procedure and political consensus.
